HB05333 Details
Regulating Striped Bass Fishing. These regulations are designed to curtail the poaching of striped bass, whose populations are declining on the east coast, and to put in place measures to support the recovery of this treasured species.
A Working Group for the CT Wildlife Action Plan. This portion of the bill would establish a working group which will develop options for funding the state’s conservation program for wildlife not usually harvested. This includes Federally listed shortnose sturgeon and Atlantic sturgeon, depleted populations of river herring, and declining populations of brook trout, to name just a few.
Procedures Concerning the Establishment of Fish Passages. This law would establish a procedure which could give CT DEEP the authority to require effective fish passage on a small number of hydroelectric dams in the state, including dams on rivers which support cold-water species like trout. These dams either have ineffective fish passages or fish passages that are no longer operational.
